One of the greatest privileges we have as followers of Jesus is participating in God’s redemptive mission. God is continually reconciling people to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:17–21), and He invites us to join Him in that work.

But many believers feel unsure where to start.
Before you begin a gospel conversation…
Before you approach someone…
Before you try to “share your testimony”…
There is something simple, powerful, and foundational that sets everything else in motion.
It begins with two prayers.
1️⃣ “God, lead me to the right place.”
The first step in sharing your faith is not speaking—it’s seeking.
Pray:
“Father, lead me to a place where You’re already working.”
This is the key. We don’t initiate God’s mission; we join what He is already doing. Jesus said the Father is always at work (John 5:17), and our role is to follow His lead.
Instead of trying to force spiritual conversations, ask God to guide your steps:
- Lead me to the right person.
- Lead me to the right moment.
- Lead me to the place where You have already prepared the soil.
When you pray this way, you stop striving and start listening. You begin to recognize God-appointed moments that you would have missed before.
2️⃣ “Holy Spirit, go before me.”
The second prayer is where the real “secret” begins to unfold.
Pray:
“Holy Spirit, go before me and prepare someone’s heart.”
This is powerful because the Holy Spirit is the One who:
- Convicts hearts
- Draws people to Jesus
- Softens spiritual resistance
- Opens the eyes of the blind
- Prepares the way for truth
Before you ever arrive, the Spirit is already working.
You are not the one who changes hearts—He is.
You are simply the messenger who walks into a moment God already prepared.
This transforms evangelism from pressure into partnership.
Why These Two Prayers Matter
If you want to be effective in the ministry of reconciliation, these two prayers shape everything:
✔️ You stop depending on your own ability.
✔️ You trust God to set up divine appointments.
✔️ You walk into conversations already prepared by the Spirit.
✔️ You become sensitive to opportunities instead of forcing them.
It’s one of the biggest “secrets” to sharing the gospel:
Give God control and simply follow His lead.
When your heart says,
“Holy Spirit, You’re welcome to take over. I’m your messenger…”
you step into God’s mission instead of your own effort.
You Are Part of God’s Mission
Sharing your faith is not about pressure, performance, or persuasion.
It’s about joining your Father on His mission.
- God reconciled you.
- God made you a new creation.
- God now sends you as His ambassador.
When you pray these two prayers, you align your heart with His heart and your steps with His steps.
And you’ll begin to see doors open, hearts soften, and conversations transform in ways you could never make happen on your own.
Final Encouragement
Start today.
Before you leave the house, before you meet someone, before you step into your day, pray:
1️⃣ God, lead me to the right place.
2️⃣ Holy Spirit, go before me and prepare the heart.
Watch what happens.
God bless you as you join Him on His mission.
